Father's Day

After church yesterday, we went to my parents' house. Can you believe I didn't get any pics of my dad on Father's Day?!?! By the time I remembered to get my camera out, he had left for work. I did go outside and play with my niece, though, and got a few cute videos of her. Here's a couple:

Fun day with DH

Once we finally got goin’ (slept in late, then just dragged a bit), we went to eat a late lunch at the Cheesecake Bistro in Baton Rouge. We split a huge seafood platter containing fried shrimp, oysters, and catfish (plus French fries and onion strings). The catfish was the dirtiest tasting catfish I’ve ever had (you southerners know what I’m talkin’ about), so we barely touched it. If Jared won’t eat something, you know it’s bad! J We also had some of their divine cheesecake—White Chocolate Macadamia Cheescake! I promise they have the best cheesecake I’ve ever tasted.

We then drove down to Sorrento (just south of Gonzales for you Louisiana folks) and browsed a couple of antique/souvenir shops in the Cajun Village. We also stopped at Best Buy on the way home and looked at big-screen TVs; if anyone has any suggestions, feel free to share them! It was a pretty fun day. Now I need to prepare my lesson for Primary tomorrow. If you don’t know already, I just got called to be the Sunbeam teacher. So fun! I’m excited—get to be back in the Primary w/o all the responsibility of being Pri. Pres. Yay!

Well, I hope everyone has a great Father’s Day. We are headed to my parents’ house right after church (2nd Sunday in a row) for dinner. Check out this mini album I’m giving to my dad: http://www.scrappersdailydose.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=38875&cat=500&ppuser=166 . The actual size is 10.75” x 3.75”. I hope he likes it!

Finish these statements

I love the smell of....

I love the sound of...

I love the taste of...

I love the sight of...

I love the feel of...

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Here's mine:

I love the smell of almond extract.

I love the sound of my cat's purr.

I love the taste of a shrimp po-boy.

I love the sight of the ducks out in the neigborhood pond.

I love the feel of the cool a/c after coming in from the hot humidity of Louisiana.

I wanna see your answers!

Homemade clock for my LSU scraproom

Jared came home with this tiger sign and we made it into a clock, using a clock kit I bought at Wal-Mart. I had originally planned to make a clock using a LSU license plate that I bought but liked the sign Jared got better. A couple of the numbers are a little hard to see but I really like the way it turned out!

Armoire and lamps

I got my bedroom armoire today! Yipee! I also have the lamps for the bedroom and the living set up. I'm a happy girl! :) Here are pics:

I love this thing! It is HUGE (7' 2" tall, 3.5' wide)!

There are two of these lamps in the bedroom:

And here's the lamp on the living room end table:

Now to get pictures and other decorations up on all the walls!

Sunday dinner at my parents'

We left straight from church to go to my parents' house for dinner yesterday. Mom made a yummy turkey dinner. I took some videos of Belle, the little cutie.

This is for Kiki, Judson, and Carma:

This is Belle showing off her muscles--so funny!

This is my brother, Ben, playing with Belle's doll house and dolls, making fun of Michael Jackson--hilarious!

Blog Changes

Changed a few things on the blog. Let me know what you think.

We were gone all day today and I am pooped, so it makes no sense that I am up on the computer at 12:40am when I have to get up at 7am to get ready for church! We were gone for over 7 hours today. We went to:

· A few antique stores in Denham Springs

· The Animal Planet Expo in Baton Rouge (was OK but nothing grand)

· Pizza buffet (it was pretty nasty but we were starving)

· A furniture store (looked at area rugs and lamps)

· Wal-Mart (got lamps for the bedroom and some groceries)

While we were in Wal-Mart, there was a huge thunderstorm—you could hear the thunder and rain even in that big place. On the way home, we got caught in stand-still traffic because, of course, there was a wreck. We set up the lamps in the bedroom when we got home, then we’ve just been goofin’ off. I’ll post pics of the lamps later.

Have a great Sunday, everyone! We’ll be heading to my parents for dinner right after church. Mom’s cooking, yay!

The Crane

Or at least I'm guessing it's some kind of crane. Click on the picture so you can see him more up-close. He was out by the pond for a good while and, of course, I totally missed him flying away. It was cool to see him out there for a while, though.

WARNING: Really Old LO!!!

Don't laugh, but here is a really old LO about when the tree almost fell on us on my birthday in 2001. If you can't read it as it is in this post, click on the picture and a bigger version will come up. No laughing at the LO! :)

It's Raining, It's Pouring!

Trying to get used to seeing real rainstorms again. It has rained quite a bit since we moved here. The thunder and lightning scares the crap out me! With the ceilings in this house being so dang high, the thunder echoes through the entire house and makes it louder, I’m sure! It makes me laugh, though, when it scares Chloe to death and she runs from the room frantic! Ha ha ha! So cruel.

I am so paranoid about one of the huge pine trees behind our house falling on the house, too. I’m usually not scared or paranoid about a lot of things but I am of trees falling. Could be because Jared and I, plus a BIL, almost got crushed by a tree that got hit by lightning while we were camping up in Wyoming a few years ago. It was so scary! While I’m thinking about it, I should share the LO I did of it, hee hee!

I like the rain itself, though. I’m looking out my scraproom window and there is a huge, beautiful crane standing by the pond, in the rain, just looking into the pond. Wonder what he’s doing? I just went and took some pictures of him. If they came out half-way decent (because he’s a little far away, through the window and the rain), I’ll post them in a bit. I want to get pics of him flying away but he’s just standing there too long and I don’t feel like standing at the window with my camera all day.

Wow, exciting stuff, huh? It’s that kind of day. J

My new furniture!!!

Yipee! We got our new living room and bedroom furniture today!!! Well, everything except the armoire for the bedroom. Here it is!

THE LIVING ROOM

Sofa and coffee table:

Love seat and coffee table:

The end table, between the sofa and love seat:

THE BEDROOM
Our new bed!:

A closer look at the headboard:
One of the nightstands:
Another view of the bed and nightstand:
The cedar chest (now we have somewhere to put all our pillows and blankets when we make the bed):

Obviously, I still need to get lamps to put on all the tables and some other decorations but I am loving it so far! Now I just need to wait until next week to get my armoire! I'm on cloud 9!!!
Oh, any suggestions as to whether we should paint the bedroom or not?

My LSU scraproom

Some of the decorations in my scraproom:

An 8 x 10 pic of the Golden Band from Tigerland in 1995 (I'm in the "U" somewhere!). It is hung on the wall near the door.

DH surprised me with this one evening last week; It is a super-nice penant--real wool and all! It is hung on the wall above the closet doors.

DH also gave me this--he got it from work. It is sitting on top of the shelves on my scrapbook table.

I covered a plain white lamp shade with this LSU fabric. The lamp is on top of the shelves on my scrapbook table.

The mouse pad I made (covered an old one with fabric).

A painting my sister painted for me 14 years ago. It's hanging next to the closet.

OK, now I need your help. We hung up this throw on the wall above the computer desk. Please give me your honest opinion about whether you think it looks OK, or should I take it down and hang up a framed picture of a tiger or something. Here's what it looks like:

So that's it for now. Let me know what you think.

Random pics

Isn't Belle one of the most beautiful girls you've ever seen? This was taken at lunch on Thursday (5/31).

Caught it on film! Chloe often licks the shelves in my scraproom and my shoe shelves in our closet. Weirdo!

Testing

I’m testing this feature where I can post to my blog just by sending an email. If you have a blog and don’t know how to do it, see http://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?answer=41452&query=Mail-to-Blogger%20Address&topic=&type=f (read the Notes, too). If you see this post, it worked!
