Facebook posts 8/15-9/24

August 20
The girls are having fun with Maw-maw and Paw-paw (my parents), who are in town from Louisiana. We had a great time celebrating my nephew's birthday yesterday. I cannot believe he's already 12! I still think of him as the cutest little toddler with curly blonde hair. He's as tall as me now!

August 20
Zucchini choc. chip bread in the oven. Won't be done 'til 11:00. Doh! We had an amazing dinner, though--my dad BBQ'd chicken and squash and my mom made potato salad and chicken salad. Then, my neighbor brought over some awesome choc. chip cookies. The girls were so fun tonight and really kept us all entertained. I love them so much!!!

August 21
Busy day already--the girls and I took Jared to the airport, then my parents and I took the girls to the park. As soon as they wake from their much needed nap, they can go swimming then Kiki and her family are coming over for dinner. I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight!

August 22
The twins and I had a blast at the aquarium with Maw-maw, Paw-paw, Aunt Kiki, and Wy-wy. They loved the penguins and otters, of course!

August 27
I love those moments when I look at my kids and tear up because I love them so much and am so thankful to have them in my life.

August 28
I'm trying to get ready to go with the girls playing in my bathroom. Makenna is walking around with one of my bras around her neck. Ha ha ha!

August 29
Makenna cracks me up. She loves putting on clothes. There is a pile of their clothes that needs to be put away and she's gotten into it twice today. First, she had on a onesie and added a pair of shorts, two long pajama bottoms and three skirts on top. Just now, she had on long pajama bottoms and top and she added a pair of pants, two pairs of shorts, and a skirt. So funny! I'm supposed to be looking for a recipe for stuffed bell peppers while Jared is upstairs feeding the girls. Hee hee! Better get to it...

The girls love wearing my flip-flops around the house. Here, Avery was dancing in them while watching Phillip Phillips perform. :)

Makenna was petting my leg. Guess it's time to shave! HA HA HA HA HA!

September 11
I love that my girls will chow down on black bean burritos on whole wheat tortillas with spinach, followed up by a bowl of fruit. Now if only I'd feed myself as healthy as I feed them!

 September 12
I bought some sweatshirts and sweatpants for the girls last week and I just tried a pair on Avery. She didn't want to take them off, so I left them on her. A few minutes later, Makenna walks up to me and says, "Help, please! [undiscernable] pants!" Such a girl, ha ha! She's happy now that I've also put a pair of pants on her. :) BTW, she says, "Help, please" whenever she wants something or needs help. She also says "sorry" if I say "ow" if she accidentally hurts me. So cute!

September 15
Makenna thought my shower cap was pretty fun to wear this morning and I thought she looked really cute. :)

 September 17
This morning, I took the girls on their first walk where they actually got to walk, not just ride in the stroller. They did really well and stayed on the sidewalk for the most part but it took us 30 min. to go around one block. Makenna was pooped when we got home and I had to stop her from falling asleep on the couch before lunch. Then, of course, she didn't fall asleep for a while after I put them down for a nap.

Avery woke up and took her shirt off, then tried to put it back on but ended up wearing it like a skirt, with the neck hole around her waist. She also took off her diaper and peed in the bed, making me change the sheet, little stinker!

September 19
Spent lots of time together as a family--went on a walk this morning, played for a while, went out to dinner at Winger's. Great day! :)

September 23
The girls were so cute cuddling up with Aunt Kiki in the hospital today. Please pray that her surgery will go well tomorrow. Since I know several of you will ask, she found out that she as a severely herniated disc in her neck. The doctor didn't want it to get damaged further, so they admitted her into the hospital yesterday to keep her immobile and help relieve the pain with lots of pain meds. We love you, Kiki, and pray that this fixes the problem!

September 24
If my scale is correct, Makenna now weighs 27.6 lbs. at 21 months. That's in the 75th percentile! She's come a long way since being a 4 lb. 9 oz. preemie! Avery definitely weighs less than that but I still need to weigh her.

Neighborhood party, LSU game, the zoo, and a fall drive

9/7/12--we went to a ward/neighborhood party in the cul-de-sac behind our house.  There was a great live band (a couple from our ward play/sing in it), tons of food, balloon making, face painting and getting to know people.  It was really fun.

Makenna chowing down

Avery enjoying her food

Laughing with Daddy

Makenna's face paint (a heart)

Makenna checking out Avery's face paint

A balloon flower that Makenna found--I made her put it back where she found it and she was really mad, ha ha!
9/8/12--Timmy came over to watch the LSU vs. Washington game with us and I put the tiger suits on the girls again:

Avery loves hanging out with Uncle Timmy!

We took the tiger suits off and put their pj's on and Makenna started a new fashion trend with hers
9/10/12:  The girls and I went to the zoo with Grandma, Uncle Jason, Aunt Stephanie and Luke, and Aunt Laura, Daisy, and Cody.  We had so much fun!
Avery enjoying the otters and looking pretty  :)

Watching the seals being fed

We LOVED the polar bear, who kept coming up to the window and saying hi to the kids!

Avery loved having Uncle Jason carry her around the zoo

9/20/12--after eating breakfast, we packed a lunch and made our way to American Fork Canyon for a drive around Alpine Scenic Loop.  It was so beautiful!  When we got down to Provo Canyon, we stopped and had lunch and played at Nunn's Park:

Makenna eating lunch

Avery enjoying some home-grown tomato

Makenna's hair was crazy on the slide at the playground there in the park after eating lunch

Avery's hair was crazy, too, but Makenna's was even wilder!

Daddy dipped both girls' heads in the river and Avery thought it was hilarious

Makenna's hair is cracking me up!  We let them play in the dirt a bit

Makenna really enjoyed getting dirty

Since they had already gotten dirty and walked into the water with their tennis shoes on, we decided to go ahead and take their pants and shoes off and let them wade in the river for a few minutes
Needless to say, we stripped them down to just their diapers for the ride home.  Jared sat in the back to keep them awake so they would go right down for their nap when we got home.  Boy, were they tired!  It was such a great family outing.  We had so much fun!

Swimming, LSU game, lounging

My second post today--make sure you don't miss the post below this one!

Some pics of the girls swimming on 8/29:

LSU's first game of the season was on 9/1.  They skunked North Texas 41-14.  Geaux Tigers!  I couldn't resist putting the tiger suits on the girls:

We bought a LoveSac from Kiki for the girls to lounge on when they're watching Sesame Street in my scraproom.  Today, they were both cuddling on it with a pillow and blanket.  At one point, Makenna leaned over and gave Avery a kiss.  Just a couple minutes later, they fought over the blanket and Avery got off.  Good thing I was quick with the camera, ha ha!

Visit from Maw-maw & Paw-paw

They left over a week ago and I'm just now posting. :/

They got here Sat. night, 8/18.  On Sunday, we went to church, then just my parents and I drove over to Kiki's church to see my nephew, Juddy, receive the Priesthood.  He turned 12!  That night, we all went over to Kiki's for dinner and birthday cake:

Avery sure loves Uncle Timmy!

Such a cutie!!!
The day wore her out!
8/23, Kiki and I took our mom out to eat at Cheesecake Factory and to see Wicked on her birthday, along with our friends Amiee and Jamie.  It was SO AWESOME!!!

8/24, Nikki and I took our mom out to eat at Texas Longhorn for her birthday.

8/25, we went up the canyon for dinner with my parents, Nikki, and Tim:

Avery loved the slide here!
8/26, after church and naps, we went to Kiki's for dinner.  Avery woke from her nap with quite the crazy hair!

Mom and Dad left Monday morning, 8/27.  They debated staying because Hurricane Isaac was due to hit when they would be getting home.  They went ahead and left and ended up not going to their house right at first because of flooding and not staying at their house until Sunday because their electricity was out until then.  Thankfully, their house was spared from flooding--although several neighbors behind them weren't so lucky.  My uncle Mike's house came really close to flooding but didn't.  My cousin, Todd, lost his house and everything in it.  For the most part, though, everyone I know got really lucky and was spared flooding or major damage.
