Valentine's Day 2013 & Dinosaur Museum

Jared was out of town, so the girls and I just stayed home and I painted their toenails, which they loved!

A little sisterly love while sitting together on the LoveSac.  Aaaw!

After lunch, I gave them each a small box of chocolates, which they devoured--5 chocolates each!  Woops!

On 2/16, I let them have the Oreo ice cream sandwiches that we had gotten from Culver's the previous week:

On 2/17, I was trying to get something done on the computer when I heard banging on a window and the girls yelling, "Hi, bird!!" They had climbed up onto the ledge that goes around our basement walls:

On 2/19, the girls and I went with one of my friends and 3 of her kids to the dinosaur museum (Thanksgiving Point Museum of Ancient Life).  We had so much fun!
The girls loved playing in the Erosion Table (sand table with water in it):

The girls also really loved digging for dinosaur bones in the quarry.  Avery did NOT want to leave!  We would have stayed longer if it weren't time for lunch, then nap.

Some Facebook posts:
Those are pages from a coloring book. I wonder what she was thinking? Not sure which one did it but it made me smile.

Avery peed on the potty this morning! She tooted and, after I made her say, "Excuse me", ha ha, she asked to go poo-poo on the potty. So I let her go sit on it, not thinking she really would. When I went to get her off, she had peed! It probably won't be a regular thing all of the sudden and maybe it was just a coincidence that she peed while sitting there but maybe it's a sign that I could start potty training soon!

Grandpa Ted visit

On Sat. (2/9), we went and visited Jared's grandpa and had a nice time hanging out with him and his wife.  Once they warmed up, the girls enjoyed playing with and talking to Grandpa and JoAnn:

Avery puts her hands up to her eyes when I ask her to "Say cheese!"  No idea why!

We went to Grandma's for a little while afterward, then ate at Culver's when we got back to Lehi (after driving in the snow and on slippery roads, yikes!).

Yesterday (2/11), Avery decided to color a masterpiece on the wall in our staircase while I was fixing lunch.  This is the first time that had happened. I'm usually really good about only letting them have a few crayons, then putting them back in the box as soon as they are finished coloring; needless to say, I didn't do that yesterday. Lesson learned.  Thankfully, a Magic Eraser got it right off!  She was so proud, though, so I couldn't be mad, ha ha!

The girls had their first dental check-up today.  They were great in the waiting room but, once the dental asst. called us back, Makenna started to freak out.  She's been to the dr. 3 times in the last 3 months and got shots two of those times, so it was understandable.  She didn't want to have anything to do with anything the lady was saying or showing us.  It took quite a bit of coaxing just for her to touch some of the instruments that the dental asst. was showing us (the mouth mirror, suction thingy, tooth polisher, etc.).  She really freaked when the dentist tried to look in her mouth.  She freaked so much that he didn't even try to look in Avery's mouth.  They both have some minor iron deposits on their teeth, which the dentist said is not attributed to poor oral hygiene (we always brush their teeth) but, rather it's something to do with the Ph levels or bacteria in their mouths; there's not much we can do about it right now, it will go away with time.  We'll keep going every 6 months, in the hopes they will get comfortable enough with him to actually let him do a proper exam and cleaning.  I don't have high hopes about that any time soon, ha ha!

Super Bowl Sunday

Jared's cousin, Valerie, and her husband, Tim, and their baby girl came over (2/3).  I taught Tim how make chicken and sausage jambalaya, after which we watched the game.  The game was pretty boring until the very end.  The girls had fun playing with Valerie's baby.  They also played dress up during the game:

Doing some coloring the next morning (2/4):

Another fun Mommy & Me story time! :)

February 6
My girls made up for not napping yesterday by napping for 3+ hours today after their fun playdate with a neighbor. :)

Avery enjoying a toaster oven s'more. Just a small mess. :)

Good weekend happenings = super fun karaoke last night with awesome friends and visiting Jared's grandpa, then his mom and brother today. Not-so-good weekend happenings: sliding on a snowy road in Eagle Mountain through a stop sign and barely missing an on-coming car last night and driving over Parleys Summit and through SLC in the snow and slippery roads tonight! The good was worth the bad. :D

February 10
The girls just woke up from their nap and are doing what I can only describe as dinosaur roars at each other, then laughing SO hard. So fun to watch!

I LOVE when the girls are watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Avery says, "Oh, Toodles!" along with the show. SO stinkin' cute!

Fun at Grandma's

We went up to Grandma's house last Friday night (2/1) and stayed the night.  We had a fun time with Grandma, Uncle Jason and our cousin, Tyson (who stopped by for a while).

Not sure what Avery was doing with that little spoon

On Sat., the girls and I went on a walk with Uncle Jason to the dairy to see the calves.  Jared had left in the car without leaving us the girls' coats, so Grandma rounded up some little coats and hats she had.  We passed a house with a dog that barked at us and Avery covered her ears and wanted Jason to hold her until we passed it.  She also covered her ears the entire time we were in the calf barn--she didn't like their mooing at all!

This is what Avery did pretty much the entire time

She wasn't so sure about the calf slobbers on her hand--it made me gag, ha ha!
