Halloween party

On 10/24, Kiki and a friend of ours had a little Halloween party for our kids. We decorated my basement, dressed up, had pizza, cupcakes, and candy, and played games. So fun!

Carma as Smurfette
Snacking on some Tootsie rolls before dinner; I didn't have their official Halloween costumes ready yet, so I put them in their tiger suits. :)

Wy-wy as Iron Man
The DELICIOUS pumpkin chocolate chip cupcakes Kiki made
Cleo in her Halloween dress
It says "Witch & Famous"
Avery "participating" in one of the games we played--We played a game called Trick or Treat Bonanza where the kids picked a strip of paper from a witch hat that either said "treat" and they could go find a candy hidden around the room or "trick" and they had to perform that trick. Avery just wanted to grab a paper out, she didn't actually do a trick or find a treat, ha ha.
Typical Makenna
Juddy was too cool to dress up, but not too cool to play the games
Makenna "playing" Pin the Tail on the Cat
Kiki, Me, and Michelle--I am holding up my mask because Avery broke it

It was a fun party and the kids had a blast!

Pumpkin patch

My FB post on 10/23:

Another great family fun day!
*Froze our butts off but had fun at the pumpkin patch, which included a hay ride, a petting zoo and, of course, picking out the perfect pumpkins
*Went home and had pumpkin smoothies for a snack
*Painted our pumpkins
*Had spaghetti squash (from Grandma's garden) with spaghetti sauce and cottage cheese. Yum!
*A bath to clean the paint, spaghetti sauce, and pineapple juice off the girls
*Tired mom and dad!!!

Here are pictures from that day:

It was pretty cold--our hands were hurting they were so cold!--and Makenna was over it, so we didn't get a good pic of the two of them together.
They had so much fun painting pumkins!

My pumpkin, of course!
Jared's pumpkin--it actually had three faces around it
The girls' finished products.  Cute, right?!

Dress up, aquarium, fall leaves

10/16/12:  I was going through a box of clothes in the next size up for the girls and found this pumpkin costume someone gave me.  As soon as she saw it, Avery wanted to put it on.  She also wanted to add that hat, that I also found in that box--oh, and she wanted to sweep, as well:

Since I had a dress-up outfit for Avery, I got out a hat and tutu (from their 1st birthday) for Makenna:
 They are such funny girls!

Jared was on a trip from 9/1 to 10/19.  He was home for for days, so we tried to pack some fun stuff in.

10/20/12:  We went with Grandma to the Living Planet Aquarium, then went and ate lunch at Training Table (got to watch the last few minutes of LSU beat Texas A&M!) and got ice cream at A&W.  That evening, Grandma watched the girls while Jared and I went and saw "Bourne Legacy".  It was a fun day!

10/22/12:  Playing with leaves in the front yard:
Makenna spent her time making a nice little pile of leaves
Avery enjoyed throwing leaves up in the air

And Avery destroyed Makenna's pile
Next up: Our visit to a pumpkin patch, painting pumpkins, and a Halloween party...

End of Sept.

Yikes, it's already been a month since I last posted!  I'll just start with the end of Sept., then I'll try to do some of Oct. in the next couple of days.

9/21: Makenna got into a tube of lipstick! It could have been much worse. She actually didn't get any on the couch, only on herself, her onesie, her lovey, and a pillow case. She did have it pretty thick on her fingers and was sucking on them (her normal thing) when I went in the room.

9/22: Impromptu pictures in the backyard before the LSU vs. Auburn game:

The girls' birthmom and her mom came and stayed the night with us on 9/28.  I love them so much and we had such a great visit.  We went to the park:

We also went out for lunch at Beto's, then I went to the Relief Society General Meeting with them.  It was awesome!  I would love to put pics of them here but I'm not sure that they want pics of themselves on here and it's always really late at night when I update this blog, so I've never asked their permission.  If I ever get around to asking them, and they're OK with it, I'll add some pics of them.  The girls had so much fun with them and we're looking forward to another visit soon (hopefully).

Some Facebook posts:
September 26
Still SO stuffed from dinner! Jared grilled up some amazing steaks and zucchini and I made cheesy mashed potatoes. And I still ate a brownie for dessert! It was all so good and we had a nice time with our dinner guests.

What happens when a daddy teases his daughters with the vaccuum hose? He sucks up one of their loveys and it disappears into the central vac black hole! It never came out into the dirt canister. We have no idea where it could have gone! Makenna was NOT happy.

Poor Cleo! (our toy Pom) The girls are chasing her around the basement.

Our Primary program was today. After the first two songs, Makenna was clapping and (very) loudly saying, "Yay!" I was trying to get her to stop but she just did it more. I was laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes but I was trying not to laugh, which made it worse! She also chattered/read a book aloud almost the entire time. She cracks me up!

I am pooped. After church, which is exhausting by itself with the girls, I spent hours making TONS of salsa using the probably 20+ lbs. of tomatoes I had. And I still ended up having ~15 tomatoes left over for me to eat this week and at least 5 lbs. that I gave to a neighbor! I'm sure I will be sad when there are no more homegrown tomatoes but it was overload this week. Then there was the task of cleaning up the disaster in the kitchen and getting the girls to bed. Whew!
