[I made two posts the other day, so make sure you go down and see them.]
Thurs., 3/30--We ate lunch when the girls got home from school and packed the car, then hit the road. I drove until late that night while Jared slept, then Jared drove all night while I slept.
First day of the road trip; they wrote a lot on their Boogie Boards, and they had to keep showing me everything they drew :)
3/31--We stopped at a gas station somewhere in TX and got a few things for breakfast and happened across a beautiful park, where we ate and let the girls play for a bit, and I had fun on the merry-go-round with the girls. We also saw some baby geese! We got to my parents' house around 8pm.

4/1--My brothers, nieces, and parents went with us to eat a late breakfast at Waffle House, then we went and saw Ben's new house before we headed to Baton Rouge for the LSU baseball game. We had standing room only tickets (that's what came up as the best seats available when I bought the tickets), and we literally had to stand the whole game (I did not realize we would have to do that, I thought we'd be able to go down and find seats after a couple of innings). There was an awesome breeze, however, and we didn't have to sit in the hot sun; I heard other people say they had to come up to the shade because they were dying in the sun. So, it was either die of heat or stand the entire time. It was a great game, though. Until after we left. We were ahead by 3 at the end of the 8th, so we went ahead and left to beat some traffic (besides the fact that we were all so tired of standing!). I watched the end of the game on the way back to the car and in the car and TAMU came back in the 9th and won! So disappointing. We went and consoled ourselves with a good meal at TJ Ribs. The chicken wings were awesome.

4/2--We had a crawfish boil and cake for Belle's 12th birthday. That evening, the girls played out in the mud--something they remembered from our last trip there and that they had been talking about doing again since we told them we were going there again. :) And they brought a cute little frog inside afterward.
4/3--It rained quite a bit the previous night, so the girls went puddle jumping again. :) My parents and I peeled the rest of the crawfish that morning--my thumb was tore up! :D Tim went with us to the swamp walk that afternoon, where we only saw frogs--the water was high and the vegetation was really thick this year. We stopped by and saw the Ponchatoula alligator, Old Hardhide, on the way home.
What do you do with all the leftover crawfish from a crawfish boil (if you're lucky enough to have leftovers)? Crawfish sandwiches for lunch, crawfish etouffee for dinner! :)
4/4--We went to Global Wildlife with my parents, ate chicken fingers at Raising Cane, and the girls drew on the driveway with chalk when we got home. That night, I went and ate at Tope La with my friend, Beth, then I met Jared and Ben and his new girlfriend at another restaurant, Mariner's.
4/5--Jared and I took the twins to play at Cate Square Park and get snowballs. My childhood friend, Carla, came over that late afternoon to visit for a while.
She specifically asked for Tiger's Blood (I guess she remembered having it two years ago):
4/6--That morning, we drove up to Madison, MS to visit Aunt Patty and Uncle Raymond. We spent the day there and they went all out in feeding us--lots of snacks (the girls loved the Rotel cheese dip), shrimp stuffed mirlintons (so good!), steak tips and brown gravy on egg noodles, and lots of other goodies. Patty got the girls a cute fish game and some Easter treats. When we got back to my parents' house, we only saw Ben and his girls for a few minutes before they had to head to Belle's softball practice. Brenna talked Ben into driving back to the house to see the twins for a little while longer. :) She went and lay down with them for a bit.

4/7--We left my parents' house that morning and stopped in Natchitoches, LA for crawfish pies at Lasyone's, then stayed the night in Abilene, TX.

4/8--We drove a couple of hours to Lubbock and visited Jared's cousin (the twins' birth aunt) and her family, then we went to Fort Sumner and saw the grave of Billy the Kid, then went through the Billy the Kid Museum. We ended up driving all night to get home the next morning.

4/9--Just an hour from home, we had to stop for about 45 minutes to wait for snow plows to come through the canyon because Jared could barely see anything.

We got snow at the house, too, but it melted fairly quickly. We got caught in snow in the same canyon on the way home from Louisiana two years ago, also in April! We got home around 7:30am but, since Jared drove all night and I barely got any sleep in the car, we were way too exhausted to go to church. We napped and vegged the whole day.
It was a great trip but it was good to get home. And the kitties missed us. The boys across the street fed and watered them every day but they weren't home the day before we got home. In that time, the cats closed the door to the laundry room (where one of the litter boxes is) and closed the door to the basement (where the other litter box is); I can't find anywhere that they peed but there was some poop on the floor. Also, Oreo got shut in our master bathroom! He must not have been in there too long, though, because there wasn't any poo or pee in there. Naughty kitties! The girls were sure glad to see them again, though!!
