Vacuum fear, new I dresses, July 4th

The girls are still scared of the vacuum.  On this day (6/21), Makenna went around the corner to hide with a stuffed animal and Avery sat and bawled on the couch:

I shouldn't laugh at this pic but I can't help it!
Jared likes to set the girls up in front of the TV in comfort.  Here, he used stuffed animals as pillows for Makenna (6/22); I think she liked it!:
I made a couple of sets of dresses a month or so ago and finally got some pics of one of them on 6/24; I also made the headband and flower:

The girls had their 18-month check-up on 6/26.  Here are the stats:
Avery = 30.5 in. (10-25%), 21.4 lbs. (10%)
Makenna = 31" (25%), 24 lbs. (25-50%)

That was their first appt. Jared has ever been able to go to; he was shocked at how fast the nurse was able to do their shots (2 each, 1 in each leg). He wanted to give them a treat afterward so, after a quick trip to Hobby Lobby, we had lunch at Chick-fil-A and ended the meal with ice cream. The girls were happy, even after having shots. :)

On 6/30, I wasn't feeling well, so I was resting on the couch and Jared was playing with the girls. A little while later, I noticed it was really quiet, so I looked back into the playroom and the scene below is what I saw. I have no idea how that happened! They hardly ever sleep anywhere but their cribs! It was so cute, though! I really like how there was still a toy resting on Avery's leg, ha ha. And, of course, Makenna has fingers in her mouth:
On 7/3 (after finally getting a Utah driver license and going to the eye dr.), Kiki took me to a drum & bugle corps show, along with our brother, Tim. It was so much fun! The Blue Devils won but I thought Phantom Regiment should have won. I really liked the Boston Crusaders show, although some of the other corps were actually better in terms of performance/skill. They were all great, though, and being there brought back so many great memories of my five years in drum corps! We stopped at Village In on the way home to eat and got home really late--I think it was 1am.  It was a great night!  [The Blue Devils]:

We had a very low-key 4th of July.  We just stayed home and did stuff around the house and played with the girls.  Jared put up some shelves in my scrapbook room closet; I'll take pics of them when I finish putting everything back on them.  We also moved some boxes out of the garage.  Jared went and bought a kiddie pool for the girls and I finally got to put their awesomely cute bathing suits on them!  They loved it!  Makenna has some rolls that don't quite stay in the suit and I couldn't help but get some adorable bum shots, ha ha!  Enjoy all the cuteness!:

We used Jared's brand new gas grill (Father's Day present) to cook some hamburgers for dinner.  Jared went to bed right after we put the girls to bed.  Some neighbors starting setting off fireworks not long after and I had to bring the dogs in but, fortunately, they didn't wake up the girls.  At ~10:00, I was able to see the fireworks displays of several cities from both the front porch and back deck.  It was pretty cool.  But I was also able to see the huge fire burning up on the mountain by Alpine/Highland.  Sad.  I stayed up until after midnight so I could wake Jared and he could pack for a trip and leave early for the airport.  So, yeah, today is my birthday and he left super early this morning.  It was just me and the girls here all day, doing nothing.

P.S.  About the eye check-up, the dr. said I have great vision, I'm just slightly far-sighted (gets blurry too close up), so he prescribed some reading glasses to use while I'm on the computer and reading books.  No biggie.  Does make me feel old, though!!

June thus far

I went through these pics this past week with the intent of posting and never got around to finishing the post.  Ooops.  So here are our happenings in the past 3 weeks:

We went to visit Katie and Colleen on 6/2/12.  Colleen gave the girls these little plush lambs and the girls love them.  Makenna loves to sleep with hers.

Makenna giving her lamb a kiss.
Avery playing with some of the toys at Colleen's house
Makenna riding a toy horsey
The girls had fun playing under this blanket draped over a recliner, with Grandma egging them on
We went to check out the goat and Avery wanted to pet it
Makenna wasn't so sure about the goat

Avery is one independent little girl--she wants to roam around on her own, not hold Mommy or Daddy's hand!
Jared wrapped the girls up in a blanket that Jason gave to me and propped them up on pillows to watch some Sesame Street--they loved it

On 6/13, Jared and I headed up to Coeur D'Alene for a company leadership conference (spouses were invited).  It was SO HARD to leave the girls (Grandma stayed with them at our house) but we had a great time.  We had LOTS of great food and saw some friends and even family (Aunt Cindy and Uncle Jim).

Here we are on a horse-drawn wagon ride (at a ranch)
One of the dinners was held at this beautiful ranch
The entertainment at the ranch was this guy who was a John Denver impersonator--the was a dead ringer and sang really well!

Some photos of the lake there (I wish I had taken them the day before, when the skies were clear and blue, making the water prettier):

We got home from the trip the night before Father's Day.  On Father's Day, we went to Jared's grandpa's house and had dinner with some of the family and had a great time hanging out and playing in the back yard.  It was a beautiful day!

Makenna running away from the dinosaur, ha ha!!!

Some Facebook posts:
*June 4: We stayed in a hotel Sat. night up in Logan to attend a baby blessing yesterday morning. The room was huge and really nice and, even though girls each were in their own Pack-n-play and Jared and I had a king size bed, none of us got much sleep. The girls kept waking up and I was wheezing and coughing due to allergies. We were all so exhausted yesterday and it felt so good to be able to get a full night's sleep last night!

*June 4: Makenna just said "please" for an animal cracker--didn't sign it, actually said it! Well, she signed it, too, ha ha, but this is the first time she's actually said it. Sooooooo sweet and cute!!!

*June 6: This has never happened before. Makenna was a little tired at lunch today and fell asleep in her high chair.

*June 8: The Crittenden house ghost--Makenna walked around with a blanket on her head for a while, bumping into stuff and falling down a lot

*June 8:  took my slippers off and now the girls are each shuffling around with one slipper on. Just walking around and around the room.

*June 18: Since we got home so late last night and the house was a tad bit warm from not being home all day, we put the girls to bed in just their diapers. I can't post the pics I took but I'm sure you can guess what happened--Avery was naked when I went to get them up this morning. I was so cute and no messes. Whew! :)

*June 21: I can't believe the girls turned 18 months yesterday! They are such a joy, even though I was up with Makenna most of last night. *yawn*

*June 21: I'm here at the computer with Avery on my lap and she's holding a snack cup. A couple pieces of Kix fell on the floor and I said, "uh oh!" 3 seconds later, she looks up into my face and says, "uh oh!" SO cute, especially since she usually doesn't say much (not real words, at least).

*June 21: I love hanging out with siblings and neices and nephews. Today, it was Kiki and her kids and Tim. Avery loves her Uncle Timmy! Makenna was giving everyone kisses all day. :)
