12/1--12/1--Peppermint Candy Cane came back! The girls read the letter from him and added a cotton ball to their Santa beard advent calendar. They couldn't wait to get home from school to decorate the tree and play with Christmas decorations (the love all the Christmas stuffed animals, the nutcracker, the Little People Nativity, and all kinds of other stuff.

While deleting pictures on my phone, I just came across this one from a couple of weeks ago. Without me knowing, Makenna had written a note for the lady in charge of the take-home books. She liked the book she got about national landmarks, particularly the page about Virginia City, MT and the gold rush and ghost town.:) The bookroom lady was sweet enough to send her a note back the next day.
12/2--The annual Lingmann gingerbread house party. As if there wasn't enough sugar with all the candy, we also had donuts and hot cocoa. :) But Carrie did feed us some delicious chicken soup and rolls. It was fun as always! We went straight from there to Jason & Mikan's for their baby gender reveal party. :D
Makenna dressed up as Rudolph for the gingerbread party (all her idea and doing). It was fun until we had to take the nose off, which was taped on:

Everyone was impressed with Avery's creavity. Her house showcased steps to her door (several of us copied her idea), a see-saw with bears, sucker trees, and lots of bears riding the see-saw, decorating the tree, up on the roof, etc. It was all her idea!:

12/4--We finally got some snow! Not very much but the twins were still excited. When Avery first saw it, she said, "Mommy, it snowed! It snowed, it snowed!"
As usual on Mondays, I went and helped out in their class that afternoon. For their end of class song, they got to play the hand bells.
12/5--She has her dance recital dress rehearsal tomorrow evening. We won't have time to curl her hair beforehand, so she has to sleep in these curlers tonight. I was pleasantly surprised that she was able to fall asleep with them in, especially since she has a really tender head. Little sweetie.
12/6--Makenna just now (reading a book about caterpillars): "If I were a butterfly and liked someone, I would mate and lay eggs." 😄

Peppermint Candy Cane, week 1:
1: His usual 1st day letter and the book
2: Our angel lost one of her arms and wasn't put up, so he dressed the part and took her place

12/9--The girls and I went and helped clean the church. We got stuck with the bathroom, ha ha. Makenna cleaned the counters and sinks and Avery cleaned the mirrors. Makenna said, "Well, Mommy has to clean the toilets and I think that's worse!" Yes, yes it is. Ha ha!!
That evening--Avery's dance recital (12/9/17), the first one without Makenna dancing with her, which made me kind of sad but I'm glad they are both doing the activities they like (Avery does dance and gymnastics, Makenna does basketball, t-ball, and soccer).
12/10--Snuggling on the couch with the girls after church watching Trolls Holiday. :)
Colleen had to come down here for work for a couple of days and came and had dinner and played Candy Land with us that evening.
12/11--Does anyone else's kids dress up blankies/lovies in clothes and treat them like they're people? 🤣 Mine do it all the time.
12/13--Makenna enjoyed her 2nd season of basketball and we saw her improve. :)

12/14--I'm working on my computer, listening to my girls sing Christmas songs as they craft. 🎶🎄😊
12/15--Even though their birthday isn't until Wednesday, we did their class birthday treats on Friday (12/15). Avery chose mini chocolate bars and Makenna chose Dum Dums. I also brought their baby scrapbook; their classmates were amazed at how small their footprints were and they loved the pictures of them as babies--they were all like, "Aaaaw!". It was so cute and sweet. I also explained a little bit about adoption. The twins loved it all. :D
That night, we got to go to a beautiful wedding reception Friday night for a very special couple. The groom and his mom were in our ward when Jared and I lived in Louisiana before the twins were born. We had to go through traffic in Salt Lake City but it was well worth it. It was great to see Tommie Lelia Wilkins and Marcus Wilkins and we had so much fun dancing. The girls didn't want to stop dancing. Any time Jared and I tried to dance alone, they wanted to cut in, so we would end up dancing in a family circle, ha ha. They were so cute. They kind of wanted to be part of the garter throwing but they didn't want to be in the thick of things--can't say that I blame them. And we loved the huge sparklers at the end to send the couple off. It was a great night.
12/16--When your cat full on pukes--not just a hairball but a huge pile of warm, halfway-digested cat food on the carpet, of course!--and you puke your whole dinner up while picking it up when you feel the warmth, even through the rubber gloves you had put on, and you get whiff of it. 🤢🤢🤢 At least I made out to the kitchen sink!
We had such a great time at our Ward Christmas party Saturday night. The girls got to see Santa again (3rd time this year, ha ha), we had a delicious dinner, during which we got to sit with the girls' BFF and her family, there were some wonderful musical numbers, and the kids got to make some reindeer food. 😁
12/17--The twins and I went over to Kiki's house after church yesterday. She made gumbo (yum!) and the girls had a great time playing with their cousins. They planned, wrote, and performed puppet shows for us. It was so funny and cute! They used a microphone and everything. When my girls do anything, they go all out! 😁 My favorite part: "What do you call a cow that plays music? A moosician!" 😂🤣
12/18--The first grade Christmas program was on Monday and it was SO CUTE! Avery was so excited that her teacher chose her to dress her dad in Santa attire for the song "Must Be Santa". It was adorable. Makenna got to play hand bells on one of the songs. I loved the program. I guess the school doesn't usually do a 1st grade Christmas program but the twins' teacher wanted to do it and talked the other 1st grade teachers into doing it. She's pretty awesome. :)
That night: Watching The Sound of Music with the twins for the first time. They are mesmerized by the puppet show. We're watching the scene for the third time. 😊 Makenna asked me not to sing this time. 😂
Meanwhile, Whiskers says, "Bah, humbug!" 😁
12/19--Their class Christmas party. The snacks and activities included:
*Making a marshmallow snowman using marshmallows and toothpicks (and eating them afterward 🙂)
*Candy cane relay race (had to pass a candy cane down the line using only the candy cane they were holding); after doing it once, they had to do it again with their eyes closed
*Throwing paper snowballs at stockings, then trying to throw them into stockings
*Relay race where they had to hop around the room with a Rudolph nose on
*Freeze Dance
*Decorating foam gingerbread men
In the evening, Jared took the girls to see "The LEGO Ninjago Movie" with other dads and kids in our ward--the Elder's Quorum paid for it. 😃 They got to sit by a friend.
That's it for now until the girls and I get home from Louisiana next week!
